We moved to Chicago 2018 and we were looking for a dentist and for many other doctors, and we wanted to keep the things locally because we have a big family, we have seven kids, and when times comes for teeth and you have to pay so many go, so visits for so many children and so many teeth, you want to go local. So the office is in a very nice place. At Glenview, we live close. So this was the first reason. The second reason was because Dr. Kidonakis is Greek and I have a Greek background and it always feels cozy and nice to be able to save few sentences, share some news in Greek or about your country. So that was the second reason. But the main reason I would say that we chose this place was that we searched and we saw that Dr. Kidonakis is a very experienced doctor.
30 years I believe in practice, and I appreciate the new doctors actually have. Two of my seven kids are in the medical school and I look forward for them to finish and start their practices and support them. But when time comes for a health issue, you really appreciate an experienced doctor. So I believe these three reasons made us choose this place. And what we found here, I think the place met our expectations and we found something more than we were expecting. And I will explain. My main problem was the sensitive gums. All my life I had very sensitive gums and they took such a good care here. And it’s about all these years I never felt that again because not only they took good care on the time I came for deep cleaning, but they keep up with inviting you back. They’re very good in sending notifications, help you to keep up with the good care.
And this is very important when you’re receiving a text message and email or even a paper, a letter in the mailbox, it’s a very good thing to see that someone cares and reminds you. And with such a big size of family we have, I need those reminders. Now about Dr. Kidonakis, she’s very knowledgeable, as I said, and very experienced and very respectful. I think a good dentist has to be a good ear, has to be a good teacher, has to be a good artist, and has to be a good person. And I think she has them all. She has all these qualities. And I will explain to you, she hears you well. She explains to you well, and she wants you to be comfortable with the procedures she’s going to do. So she never does something if she’s not sure that you are completely comfortable with that procedure.
And I would say her bigger strength is the prevention. She’s very, very good in preventing bad issues. And I realized that from my very first visit at her office. And I thought that day, oh my gosh, here, I’m going to have a healthy mouth always. And I feel safe because she knows very well because she’s so experienced. She knows well when to do a procedure and when to wait. She knows when the situation can wait and when you have to take action right away. And she has very light hands when she works. She has a joyful soul and she keeps always a good balance between work and communication with the patient. She’s very peaceful in her work and I believe in her leadership in the whole office here. And she always follows up after a procedure to make sure that you feel good. The place in general is a very good place, very cozy, very atmospheric, very friendly.
Once you step in, you feel all the people in the front desk, they turn their face, they smile, they greet you. It’s a beautiful place. And they’re very good in what they do, all of them. And it’s a place all of them by their name. This happens to me only at this medical office. I don’t know the personal names of everyone at the medical office, but I know here and they know our names of all of my children. So it’s a beautiful thing to see that you are welcomed, that you are appreciated, that they notice you. And in general, I would say, if I can do a general remark. My husband is a physician, so I am exposed in a daily basis to medical environments. And through the years I’ve seen that medicine has fallen to a trap of sacrificing the quality for the productivity.
And so dedicated goal, I would say, or maybe more a patient was not just a number or a medical case. It was a person, a unique person with a personality, a family, a background, a history. And I strongly believe that when you approach a patient with a holistic approach, you have a great impact to his healthcare. And also this has an impact to how he perceives your care. And I think Dr. Kidonakis preserves this idea in her office. And this is one of the main reason besides her very good medical experience and knowledge that I like this place. And I strongly recommend to all the people in friends, they ask for a place for their teeth. This is pretty much the place, as I said, is very beautiful, very, I never have stressed to come to the dentist. And I’ve heard that from other people.
It’s relaxing, it’s beautiful, and you want to come here with joy. And I really wish them good luck to continue and also to inspire young people that they come here to work or to take to be taken care of, to see that spirit and take it and embrace it and obtain that in their own paths and in their own careers. And I just want to congratulate them. Congratulate and thank them for what they are and for what they represent. Dr. Kidonakis has a natural respect and compassion for the patients who it’s so, so important for us. Thank you.
