The six steps to straight teeth with Invisalign treatment

Invisalign Treatment for Straight Teeth in Glenview IL Area

At Smile Today Dental of Glenview, Illinois, our team works with patients to help them determine if Invisalign is the best solution for straightening their teeth. There are several steps required, and it is best if patients follow their treatment plan correctly to get the results they want. Below are the steps you will usually follow when using Invisalign for straight teeth:

  1. The initial consultation appointment. Before starting Invisalign treatment, patients need to schedule an initial consultation with our certified Invisalign provider. At this appointment, our dentists will evaluate the patient’s oral health and decide if Invisalign is a suitable option. The dentist also discusses the treatment process, expected results, and any potential risks or side effects.
  2. Customized treatment plan. If the patient is deemed a good candidate for Invisalign, our team will take digital impressions of the teeth with our state-of-the-art technology. The impressions will then be used to design a 3D model of the patient’s teeth, which will be used to create a custom treatment plan. The treatment plan will show the gradual movement of the teeth and the expected results.
  3. Fabrication of Invisalign aligners. Once the plan is finalized, it is sent to a specialized laboratory where a series of clear plastic aligners are created using advanced computer technology. These aligners are custom-made for each patient and are designed to gradually adjust the teeth to move them into their desired position over time.
  4. Wearing the Invisalign aligner trays. Patients will be provided with a set of aligners that they must wear for 20-22 hours every day. They should only be removed when eating, drinking, or brushing teeth. The aligners should be changed every two weeks as directed by your dentist, with each set bringing the patient one step closer to the desired results.
  5. Regular follow-up appointments and adjustments as needed. Throughout the treatment process, patients regularly check in with the team at Smile Today Dental to monitor progress and make any necessary changes. These appointments are crucial for ensuring that the treatment is progressing as planned and making any adjustments if needed.
  6. Completion of treatment. After the final set of aligners has been worn and the teeth have shifted into their correct positions, the Invisalign treatment is complete. However, patients still need to wear a retainer at night to maintain the results and prevent any shifting of the teeth. Our dental team provides this for continued use.
