If you are curious about using veneers to improve your smile, we invite you to visit with Drs. Evelyn Kidonakis and Jinyoung “Anny” Yoo of Smile Today Dental to discuss this easy, affordable, and fast solution to an imperfect tooth or teeth. This is one of many options for enhancing the smile’s look. Let’s check out some commonly asked questions heard from our Glenview, Illinois, area dental team:
Our dentists describe veneers as very thin shells made of either porcelain or composite resin designed to cover the front surface of teeth. They enhance appearance, fix imperfections, and make teeth look amazing!
If you have chipped, stained, crooked, or uneven teeth or even gaps between your teeth, veneers could be a great option. They are ideal for our patients who are looking for a long-lasting way to enhance their smiles. Of course, your dentist can help you decide if veneers are right for you.
Absolutely! Modern veneers are customized to match the characteristics, including the shape, size, and color, of your existing natural teeth. The aim is to create a flawless finish that blends in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. Nobody will even know they’re there!
The process is fairly simple and typically involves minimal discomfort. Your dentist might remove a very thin layer of enamel to make space for the veneer, but they will utilize a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
With proper care, veneers last 10 to 15 years, and sometimes even longer! Brushing, flossing, and avoiding hard foods keep your smile looking spectacular for years to come.
Veneers are low-maintenance. Treat them just like your natural teeth. Brush twice daily, floss daily, and visit your dental team regularly. To keep your veneers in top shape, avoid chewing on hard items like ice or pens.
Yes, you can. Veneers only cover the front-most surface of your teeth, so the remaining portion is still vulnerable to decay. Maintaining proper oral hygiene is essential to keeping your whole smile healthy.
While veneers are an initial investment, many of our patients believe they’re worth every penny for the confidence and joy they bring. Costs vary depending on the material, but our office offers payment options to make them more affordable. Plus, that perfect smile is priceless for most!
